Bring The Body Yoga IS SMARTer Bodies Yoga!

For over a year now, SMARTerBodies has been grooming me in their style of functional yoga. I have always believed that yoga is meant to be practiced with the intent of making the asana fit the body. Yes, there is a very clear structure to poses, but not everyone for myriad reasons can or should take those poses as are commonly practiced. YOUR body is NOT a common body! Why would anyone think that on any given day the same pose for someone else is right for them? For some Warrior One pose as it is often seen, can be practiced for a lifetime without incident. Yet, for someone else, there may indeed be issues that might make that pose detrimental. SMARTerBodies creates fitness and yoga sessions that take into account each individual person’s body- whether in a group or private setting.

Do you spend all day at a computer? Then why would doing a thousand forward folds be a valuable movement pattern for you? Do you spend all day on your feet? Then why would constant movement on the Sagittal plane, like lunges, be helpful to bring balance to your body? There maybe other reasons to practice the lunges in a session, but for the person who stands all day long (unlike the sedentary person) may have no major restrictions in the hip flexors. This is what SMARTerBodies and Bring The Body Yoga is on a mission to change! The patterns of movement that we have differ with each person. BTB with SMARTerBodies takes all of that into account. You may have a relatively constant relationship to gravity, and we will help you to explore that range. Playing with the different planes of gravity will make you stronger and feel more balanced in your body-and remember, the mind IS part of the body!!! So many of us enjoy the feeling of the balance between relaxed and energized that we feel after a great yoga session!
